It takes creativity to be a sadistic SOB. For proof, just look at all the real world serial killers and their eloquence and apparent refinement. Broly was never brain-dead as it were and certainly no moron. Sociopathy and psychopathy make human minds go odd, I can only imagine the Saiyan brain chemistry of the two.

This also does not prevent the possibility we may see the true Jekyll to Broly's LSSJ Hyde if he ever reached SS3. Goku appeared tranquil in the form but we also do not know what one's personality is like when first reached beyond Gotenks and considering the nature of Fusion, probably not the best marker anyway. Has there ever been a discription of a Saiyan when they first reach SSJ3 from Toriyama-san?
What creativity did Broly show? All of his tortures consisted of smacking something repeatedly or crushing it, hardly a huge testament of creativity. Also, most serial killers don't go around with the vocabulary of a kindergartener. Not to mention that Broly is apparently too stupid to tell the difference between a 4 ft tall kid and a 6 ft tall man

 Quite frankly, I see no downfalls. It was pure plot convenience and plot armor that the z fighters won. Broly had them on the ropes for than once. He's far stronger than any of them, but retains extreme speed even with his large frame. His body shows a great tolerance to pain, though not to s***ty writing.

Broly was born powerful, and it's safe to say he wasn't as well trained as any of the other z fighters who really had to struggle though life. Broly pretty much breezed by everything without meeting a challenge. It's also safe to say he probably never got any zenkais in his life before he fought Goku.

His transformation is unlike any other in how extreme it is. He changed the f***ing color of the sky for cryings outs louds! It'd be safe to sy that if he had as many zenkais as Goku had, and a bit more martial arts training and techniques, BROLY would be the Super Saiyan God.

 ^ Super Saiyan God is something that takes multiple Saiy- never mind. I just ran out of snark.

Anyway, in relation to this Saiyan's IQ, I can't offer any real statement upon his full faculties. It is possible that, due to the injuries he sustained as an infant, he is indeed simple-minded. But the movies in which he appears were not about Broly's intelligence but his power.
I'm more in line in admitting that he's as most Saiyans: battle-smart and average in other areas. He has no reason to rely on martial artistry due to his sheer bulking size, hence his "Wrestling" manner of fighting. He is, after all, a killing machine. I can't argue that his lines have been... lacking (in movie 10, where the only real sentence he ever utters is a fragment "Not until you lie dead at my feet"). But what evidence do we have that he is an idiot in base besides the few minutes the animators spent showing him to needlessly tease us?
I prefer Kaboom's explanation, that his energy is evergrowing and his super state, a genetic abnormality on his part.
